Kansas City Central Library

{panoramio, rjs book lady}

The parking garage of the Central Library in Kansas City and the First National Bank where the library is. What better way to hide a parking garage at a library than with books?  Each of the 9 x 25 foot book spines prominently display a title on the exterior wall. The entire complex was opened in 2004 and cost nearly $50 million. The garage is the highlight of the Kansas City’s library district and sits across from the Central Library.  Who would ever think that the garage could be as gorgeous as the library?  Well done, architects.  (Courtesy Kansas City Public Library)

The library is in the old First National Bank building on West 9th Street-Baltimore Avenue Historic District , National Register #76001113.
