Why is New York City so great? These homes, on the Upper West Side (near Central Park) allow passerby to appreciate the mix of buildings, old and new, tall and short, together . While old buildings are definitely en vogue, they fell out of style in the 70s and 80s. Finally, people are taking care of the country’s history that our ancestors built.
Fun fact: Did you know New York did not originally have Central Park in its plan?
In 1807, the Randall Plan was created to install a grid system expanding the city northward. It intended to rid the city of any natural habitat that it had. Luckily, in 1850, the city was ill compared to London which had over 1400 acres of park. In 1852 the land which makes up Central Park was bought.
