The George W. Cheney House was featured in the Hartford Courant’s “Historic Opportunities” article last year.  The house, now owned by the church, faces the wrecking ball as the church continues to expand and needs a parking lot for it’s weekly patrons.

The house is Gorgeous, that’s right, Gorgeous, with a capital “G”.  The dark wood floors appear to be in such good condition.  The steep pyramidal roof and shed dormers are beautiful.  It must seem even bigger from the inside.  It’s a shame to think that a Cheney mansion would be taken down for a parking lot that can be avoided by using street parking along with neighboring parking lots.
